Divemaster Interships
PADI sets out the standards all dive centers are required to adhere to when teaching divemaster trainees (DMT's). There are required course materials, skills, projects and exams to complete. In addition to this you are also required to assist on a number of PADI courses
and, of course, gain experience in leading certified divers underwater.
A basic PADI Divemaster course on Roatan can be completed in about 4 weeks. Here at Reef Gliders we prefer to follow what is known as a Divemaster Internship route to qualify divemasters. This is a longer course (a minimum of 6 weeks for divers already Rescue Diver certified) that teaches you many additional skills than the basic course and ultimately makes you considerably more attractive to prospective employers.
Dive Centers today don't just want divemasters capable of leading dives and assisting on courses. They are looking for people who can take additional responsibility and bring additional skills to their business. This is why our divemaster internships include valuable skills such as compressor/air fill operations, equipment servicing workshops, boat handling skills, customer serive training and much more. To find the full details of the internship visit the Divemaster Intership section of this website.
